Superficial Venous Insufficiency
As opposed to the deep veins surrounded by muscles, the superficial veins are located under the skin in the layer of loose fatty tissue, allowing them to dilate under pressure. When a vein gets wider, the leaflets of the valves, normally letting this blood to go only upstream, cannot reach each other anymore, and blood, therefore, flows down. The large branches of such vein, called now “insufficient” or “incompetent”, become wider and turn into varicose veins. The microscopic branches of the insufficient veins widen as well becoming what is known as “spider veins”. Due to the high pressure in the dilated vein, swelling develops. Most importantly, since this is already used blood, with low oxygen and high end-metabolites, such as lactic acid for example, different trophic changes incur, leading to non-healing lesions, ulcers and infections.

I usually don't write reviews, but I feel that Dr. Lev literally saved my leg. I am 35 and not the typical patient for this kind of stuff, but I had an open ulcer on my leg for 3 years!!! Compression, creams, special diet - nothing helped. After Dr. K's treatment, the ulcer slowly began disappearing and it was gone in 6 weeks. If you ever had an ulcer, you know exactly how I felt!
