I have “Burning Legs” or “My legs are burning” are phrases that patients sometimes describe as a symptom to Dr. Khitin. So why do they feel they have burning legs?
A subjective feeling of increased temperature of the skin of a certain area of the body, or burning, is a type of “paresthesia”, or a non-painful but unpleasant subjective sensation. It is subjective because when measured, the real, or objective, temperature of the skin is normal. Burning of the ankles and legs is a common symptom of vein disease of superficial venous insufficiency.
So the good news is: your legs are not burning. The bad news: it is time to talk to your doctor, as things can get more complicated if you delay.
New York Vein Treatment Center focuses on treating this and other symptoms and complications of venous disorders. We helped thousands of patients in the New York area. Read more about Dr. Lev Khitin and make that call.(212) 575-8346 Book Appointment
